About Us
LifeTec is a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides dedicated assistive technology (AT) services. Our aim is to enable people of all ages and abilities to actively engage in home, work, school and community life. Established in 1981, LifeTec has a team of health professionals including Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists who have a passion for AT and are specially trained and supported to work with people with complex presentation.
Our Strategic Purpose
Our strategic purpose is to connect people and communities through assistive technology to enable their aspirations.
To achieve this, LifeTec:

Our Role in Advocacy
LifeTec Australia is a very strong advocate for the provision of Assistive Technology, Home Modifications and Alternative and Augmentative Communications (AAC) to assist people to live a full empowered life. As specialists in complex need and individual presentation, we understand the importance of developing skills and experience in these important areas to ensure that our consumer are provided the best possible service that meets their needs and assists them to thrive.
LifeTec also engages with national bodies to progress advocacy across the sector, these include:

LifeTec Australia is the founding member of NATA - National Assistive Technology Alliance and we have an invited presence at the NDIA Industry Reference Group. NATA's vision is to ensure a positive future for all AT stakeholders by working collaboratively to influence policy and industry standards and practice for the AT sector.

LifeTec Australia supports the ATFA - Assistive Technology For All. We recognise the presence of a significant gap in equitable access to funding for Assistive Technology in Australia. The ATFA campaign is coordinated by a national alliance of peak bodies and consumer advocates spanning the health, ageing and disability sectors to advocate for people with disability who are excluded from the NDIS.

LifeTec Australia as a member of MOD.A represents the interests of members and all providers of home modifications and ancillary services. Through our engagement with government policymakers and other peak industry groups we act as a two-way information conduit to share information, ideas and concerns for the betterment of the sector and the consumers we all serve. With input from members, MOD.A has made numerous submissions that have helped shape the emerging policies. We continue to advocate on behalf of the sector.

LifeTec Australia is a member of AGOSCI which since 1981 has been a powerful voice and a thriving community for people who do not rely on speech alone. ALigning with LifeTec's Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) service program, we champion inclusion, access and participation ensuring that diverse communication needs, styles and support are recognised and valued in all aspects of life.
