What is Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive evaluation that assesses how an individual performs daily activities in their home, community, or workplace. It helps determine a person’s ability to function independently and identifies areas where additional support, assistive technology, or home modifications may be beneficial.
The assessment is tailored to your individual needs, challenges, and aspirations. Our Health Professionals will assess key areas such as mobility, self-care, communication, cognition, and daily living skills, providing a detailed report with recommendations to support your independence and quality of life.
For NDIS participants, an FCA provides essential evidence to justify funding for:
- Assistive technology and equipment (e.g. communication devices, mobility aids, adaptive tools).
- Home modifications (e.g. ramps, grab rails, accessible bathrooms).
- Support workers and therapy services (e.g. occupational therapy, speech therapy, personal care assistance).
- Capacity-building programs to improve skills in self-care, communication, social participation, and employment.
