How LifeTec Can Help?
Our experienced Occupational Therapists work closely with you to assess your needs and recommend practical changes tailored to your lifestyle. From there, we partner with fully licenced, insured, and police-checked builders to carry out the work — ensuring everything is completed to a high standard with your safety and comfort in mind.
Using one of our trusted onboarded builders mean a smoother process, clear communication between your OT and builder, and access to available grant funding for eligible modifications.
Here's how we can help:
- Install grab rails and handrails
- Fit access and threshold ramps
- Modify taps and door handles for easier grip
- Install hand-held showers and adjustable rails
- Remove shower screens or doors for safer access
- Apply non-slip flooring or surface treatments
- Install emergency alarms and assistive technology
- Recommend simple AT solutions that support daily tasks
No matter how small the change, our focus is always on making your home safer and easier to live in.
Why Use CHSP for Minor Home Modifications?
Small home adjustments can significantly reduce the risk of falls and injuries and support you to:
- Maintain independence with less reliance on others
- Move safely around your home
- Carry our daily tasks with more ease and comfort
- Stay in your home longer and avoid higher levels of care

Who's Eligible?
Eligibility for CHSP is based on your age and support needs. If everyday tasks have become more difficult and a little support could improve your health and wellbeing, CHSP may be right for you.
You may be eligible if you are:
- 65 years and older (or 50 years or older for Aborignial or Torres Strait Islander people)
- 50 years or older (or 45 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people) on a low income and homeless, or at risk of homelessness
An aged care assessment will determine your eligibility for CHSP services, including specific modifications and repairs.
How Much Will It Cost
LifeTec is funded by My Aged Care under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) to deliver minor home modifications.
Under this program:
- The Australian Government contributes 50% of the total cost (up to an annual limit).
- You, the consumer, are responsible for co-contribution of the remaining 50% of the agreed cost of materials, assistive technology, and labour.
Contact LifeTec to discuss your individual situation and contribution details.
The Occupational Therapist's assessment and reporting are fully covered by CHSP.
